Please note that culture is defined as the collective mental programming of the human mind which distinguishes one group of people from another. This programming influences patterns of thinking which are reflected in the meaning people attach to various aspects of life and which become crystallised in the institutions of a society. The theory, sometimes described as the dimensional paradigm, or 6-D model, was first unveiled in Hofstede’s book Culture’s Consequences. The six dimensions that currently make up Hofstede’s Hofstede came up with five dimensions for cultural differentiation. They include power distance, individualism, masculinity, uncertainty avoidance index and long term orientation.
